Knitted Teddy Bear

I have just finished knitting this rather evil looking teddy bear for my doll. I have been making clothes for her recently, and have made a few outfits, and this little teddy completes one of the outfits I haven't finished making yet. I think I may have stitched the arms on upside down which makes it look more... scary. I used 2.75 mm needles and thin grey thread that is usually used for sock knitting. It's stuffed with a pair of old tights. I think you could probably adapt the pattern to make any kind of teddy - I'm considering making a 'Lotso' from Toy Story 3 with pink thread. It is a bit fiddly to sew all the pieces together, but there you go... It doesn't take long to make, especially the ears which are only three rows high!

Cheesy Feet

Hello readers!!! (wait, do we have readers?? :p) My name is Hannah and I am your newest contributor woop woop :)) So, since coming back from holidays, I have been oh-so creative and made many wonderful things! Firstly, my mother made these "cheesy feet" biscuits (recipe can be found in Nigella Lawson's Feast cookbook) which are so cute, tasted deliciously cheesy and were very simple to make. The foot shaped biscuit cutter was found in Bulk Barn in Barrie, I believe. Seeing as I have no photos of my other creations at this moment, I'll end this post now. But watch this space, I'll be back.

Warrior Girl

My brother got a new drawing book the other day, about how to draw faces. I decided to follow the lesson on anime-style warrior faces. This drawing looks mostly like the one in the book, but the mouth is slightly different.

Paper Dolls

I made these a few years ago when I was fascinated with paper dolls and drawing clothing in general. I had these Disney paper dolls that I always used to play with, so if the ones I made in the picture here look familiar, thats because I used the faces and general body shape of my paper dolls of Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty. I had to use them as a template because I am not so good at drawing faces by myself. Or actual bodies for that matter. So instead I traced the outline of the Disney paper dolls and copied the faces. In my defense, I did design the underwear my self, as well as all the clothes for the dolls. The idea for these dolls is that they're visiting different countries in Asia (which is why they're not Asian themselves) and to fit in with the locals they wear the traditional dress of each country. Everything is drawn and shaded with coloured pencils. The costumes will be in the next posts.

Knitted Coaster

This was hard! The difficulty level actually said beginner, but I really had to concentrate the whole time I was knitting. I first had to knit the square and then knit the border around it. That said, it only took about a week to make this, but it was so taxing on my brain that I don't think I'm going to knit the placemat and napkin ring to go with it. So right now I have one lonely coaster... but I'm dubbing it a learning experience rather than anything I can actually use (although it is good for a cup of water on a bedside table).

Current Projects

Right now, I'm working on knitting an afghan and sewing a cross-stitch pattern of butterflies. I've been working on my cross-stitch picture since last summer and still haven't finished! But I'm really close. I love the picture because some of the colours are mixed with sparkly thread and the canvas is printed with what looks like faded envelopes and stamps in the background. The afghan on the other hand is barely started... I've only knitted about less than a foot; it has to be alot longer! But it's a simple pattern that I can do while I'm watching TV or talking to my friends, but just different enough from straight knitting that I don't find it boring. It might take me a few months to finish the afghan, but I'm hoping to finish the cross-stitch this month. We'll see how it goes :P

Cross-Stitch Ballerina

This was my first cross-stitch project. It took me at least a few months and I definitely made a few mistakes which you can't actually see on the finished picture. I picked this pattern because of my love of dance and the anime style is so cute!

My Ideas For This Blog

I want this blog to be all about what we make, whether it be arts and crafts, creative writing, music or food! We'll post pictures of what we made and write about how long it took and any interesting things that happened along the way. Any comments and ideas about future projects would be great!
